About OH OL

Operation Lifesaver Ohio is a free Rail Safety Education program helping prevent & reduce fatalities and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings & along railroad rights-of-way.

Ohio Operation Lifesaver provides free public education regarding safety on and around railroad property. Please contact us to have one of our volunteers speak to your class, group or organization. We speak to groups from pre-school to adult. We can also provide specialized training for Law Enforcement, First Responders, new drivers, School Bus and Commercial Drivers.

OH OL Statistics

2020 & 2021 (as of 10-31) Vehicle-Train collisions and Pedestrian/Trespasser Incidents

In 2020 Ohio ranked #9 in the nation for Vehicle-Train collisions with 75 total ( Ohio was also ranked #9 in 2019)
These collisions resulted in 19 Injuries and 8 Fatalities
In 2021 (as of10-31) Ohio has recorded 50 total collisions with 14 Injuries and 4 Fatalities

In 2020 Ohio ranked #11 for Pedestrian/trespasser incidents with 26 total ( Ohio was also ranked #11 in 20219)
These incidents resulted in11 Injuries and 15 Fatalities
In 2021 (as of 10-31) Ohio has recorded 30 total incidents with 14 Injuries and 16 Fatalities
